Objectives & Functions

Objectives :-

To provide clean drinking water in the rural areas of the state, to take related policy decisions and implement them.
Also, to handle all activities related to personal and public sanitation of citizens in rural areas.

Functions :-

1. Establishment of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department (itself), Groundwater Survey and Development Agency under the department, Maharashtra Water Authority and State Water and Sanitation Mission (formerly known as Water and Sanitation Support Organization).
2. Making policies regarding drinking water supply and sanitation programs, and implementing water supply and sanitation programs.
3. Implementing water supply and sanitation programs.
4. Coordinating and controlling the Jal Jeevan Mission Program, Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) Phase-2, and Atal Bhujal Yojana.
