    Water Supply and Sanitation Department

    The Water Supply and Sanitation Department is an administrative department of the Ministry, Mumbai, Maharashtra Government.Currently in charge, Hon. Minister, Shri Gulabrao Raghunath Patil., Hon. smt. state minister Meghna Deepak Sakore-Bordikar The Principal Secretary of the department is Mr. Sanjay Khandare (IAS).

    Creation

    dated November 9, 1995, the Water Supply and Sanitation Department was created as an administrative department.

    Works

    Supplying clean drinking water to rural areas of the state, making policy decisions related to it, and implementing it.Also handles all tasks related to personal and public cleanliness of rural citizens.

    Scope of Work

    1. Establishment of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department (itself), Groundwater Survey and Development Agency under the department, Maharashtra Water Authority and State Water and Sanitation Mission (formerly known as Water and Sanitation Support Organization).
    2. Making policies regarding drinking water supply and sanitation programs, and implementing water supply and sanitation programs.
    3. Implementing water supply and sanitation programs.
    4. Coordinating and controlling the Jal Jeevan Mission Program, Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) Phase-2, and Atal Bhujal Yojana.
